Study on the micro-EDM processing characteristics of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with different electrode materials

Ti-6Al-4V alloy has been widely used in industrial fields. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a commonly technology for alloy. During EDM of alloy, the thermal and physical characteristics tool electrode have an important influence on processing characteristics. In order to study different materials brass electrode, copper tungsten were perform this paper, electrodes with V-groove array structures designed carry out powder mixed electrical (PMEDM) results evaluated based four indicators: microstructures morphology, wear (TEW), material removal rate (MRR), recast layer thickness (RLT). The show that recommended machine because it highest reproduction (75.2%), smaller TEW (139 μm), MRR (255.39 mm3/min), thinner RLT (3.35 μm).
